Installation Instructions for Acrylic CPR Signs

Proper installation of your Acrylic CPR Sign ensures durability and compliance with Australian pool safety regulations. Follow these steps carefully to securely mount your sign while protecting its longevity.

Step 1: Consider the Location

Before mounting the acrylic CPR sign, assess the installation location:

  • Avoid direct sunlight exposure – Prolonged heat and UV may cause warping or fading over time.

  • Choose a visible spot – Ensure the sign is placed in a prominent, compliant location.

  • Check the mounting surface – The surface should be flat, dry, and stable for strong adhesion and durability.

Step 2: Prepare the Surface

  • Clean thoroughly – Remove dust, grease, or contaminants to promote adhesion.

  • Check paint types – Certain paints (e.g. Teflon-based) can reduce adhesive bonding. If in doubt, lightly sand the surface.

Step 3: Ensure Proper Alignment

  • Use a spirit level – Confirm horizontal alignment before securing the sign.

  • Mark hole locations – If using screws or standoffs, mark drilling points in advance.

  • Pre-drill if necessary – Helps avoid cracking and ensures accurate placement.

Step 4: Mount the Sign

Option 1: Standoff or Screw Mounting

  • Drill gradually, starting small and increasing bit size to avoid cracking.

  • Support the sign on timber while drilling to prevent bowing.

  • A drill press is ideal for precision.

  • Use the correct fixings:

    • Plasterboard: plugs and screws.

    • Concrete: masonry plugs and screws.

Option 2: Liquid Adhesive Mounting (reverse-printed acrylic signs only)

  • Use neutral cure silicone polyurethane adhesive only. Do not use solvent-based adhesives (e.g. Liquid Nails).

  • Apply adhesive evenly across the back.

  • Press firmly against the surface and hold for 30 seconds.

  • Allow at least 24 hours for curing before exposure.

Option 3: Heavy-Duty Double-Sided Tape (smooth, flat surfaces only)

  • Select outdoor-rated tape for long-term adhesion.

  • Ensure the surface is completely dry and grease-free.

  • Apply strips evenly across the back.

  • Press the sign firmly into position and hold briefly.

  • For larger signs, use multiple strips along edges and centre.

  • Allow adhesive to cure before applying additional pressure.

Step 5: Remove the Protective Film

Acrylic signs are supplied with a clear protective film. Once the sign is securely mounted, carefully peel it away to reveal a clean, polished finish.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Routine cleaning – Use warm soapy water to remove dirt.

  • Safe cleaning agents – Isopropyl Alcohol can be used for stubborn marks.

  • Avoid scratches – Wipe with a soft, non-abrasive cloth only.
